About Lane
Lane Power & Energy Solutions is a specialist project delivery firm focused on underground storage and energy infrastructure. For four decades, the firm has delivered hard-rock cavern projects from early definition through construction and commissioning, including a continuous engineering support relationship with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve that remains active today. 


Lane serves owners, developers, EPC/EPCM primes, and federal program teams, engaging as Owner’s Engineer, Construction Manager, or General Contractor depending on project needs.
Our mission is to build the underground infrastructure that keeps energy secure, available, and ready when it matters most.

2012
Completed design and construction of a 1.0 million barrel LPG hardrock storage cavern. The first new hardrock cavern in the US in 25 years. (West Virginia)
2014
Completed rehabilitation of a previously retired hardrock storage cavern and placed into LPG service. (Indiana)
2016
Completed rehabilitation of a previously retired hardrock cavern and placed back into LPG service. (New Jersey)
2017
Completed design and constructed a 1.4 million barrel LPG hardrock storage cavern. (Illinois)
2018
Completed a core drilling program and FEED for a LPG hardrock cavern. (NJ)
2019
 Completed a deep (6100’) salt core drilling program and bedded salt cavern feasibility study. (Ohio)
2020
Completed design and construction of a Propane Chiller System for an LPG hardrock storage cavern (NJ)
2022
 Plug and Abandon two LPG hardrock caverns. (Kentucky & Ohio)
2024
Completed a core drilling program and FEED for a hardrock cavern for use in an ACAES project. (California)

Some projects require capabilities that sit beyond Lane's core disciplines. Rather than leaving clients to manage those gaps independently, Lane operates alongside two strategic partners that extend the network without fragmenting accountability.
Lane Power and Energy Solutions provides hydrocarbon storage caverns, oil and gas cavern support facilities, and hard rock underground projects.
Geotechnical engineering and subsurface design. Contributes deep technical engineering resources to Lane-led projects as a specialist subcontractor.
Salt cavern storage development and advisory. Covers the salt-geology side of the underground storage market alongside Lane's hard-rock domain.
